Sal’s rugged interior holds a quiet, striking beauty that contrasts sharply with the postcard-perfect white beaches along its coast. On this off-road adventure, you’ll venture beyond the usual exploring the sights of Sal taking in the rich history and beauty.

Tour Highlights:

  • Salinas of Santa Maria – Start your day at the natural salt flats near Santa Maria and learn about the island’s salt history. Great for photos!
  • Kite Beach – Watch the sky come alive with colourful kites as surfers glide across the waves on this windswept coast.
  • Murdeira Village – A peaceful coastal village nestled between volcanic rocks and turquoise waters. Ideal for scenic views.
  • Shark Bay – Wade into the shallow waters and see lemon sharks up close in their natural habitat – a truly unique experience!
  • Pedra de Lume Salt Mines – Float effortlessly in the salt-rich crater lake of this ancient volcanic mine.
  • Espargos & The Mirage – Visit the island’s capital and experience the famous “mirage” optical illusion at Terra Boa.
  • Blue Eye (Buracona) – Marvel at the natural wonder of Buracona’s “Blue Eye” – a sea cave that glows a magical blue under the sun.
  • Palmeira – The Fishing Village – End your day exploring the charm of this authentic village, with its lively harbor and local culture.
  • Optional lunch stop – Enjoy fresh, local cuisine at a seaside restaurant (not included in tour price).

What’s not included?

At Sal trip tours we understand what it likes to be a tourist…  we believe in being upfront and so below is a list of what is not included within the tour. There are 3 privately owned sites within the tour which are also listed below:

  • Blue Eye 3 Euros
  • Pedra Lume Salt Lake 6 Euros (shower after swim optional 1euro)
  • Shark Bay 3 Euros (water shoes and water guide to feed sharks)
  • Food and drinks – you can choose when and where to eat
  • Souvenirs or extras – Anything you choose to pick up on the way

What to Bring on Your Tour

Essentials: 

Comfortable shoes – sandals or trainers are great for walking and exploring Light, breathable clothing – it gets hot, so dress to stay cool Hat & sunglasses – the sun here is strong all year round Suncream – preferably reef-safe to help protect our marine life Refillable water bottle – staying hydrated is key If your tour includes beach stops or salt flats:

Swimwear – for a swim or to float in the Salt Lake at Pedra de Lume Towel – optional, but handy Crocs or Water shoes – some areas can be rocky or hot underfoot Change of clothes – if you plan to swim or get salty 

Good to bring: 

Cash for: Local snacks or handmade souvenirs Small backpack or bag – to carry your things comfortably Photos: I offer professional photos of your tour for an extra cost—just ask if you’d like to capture your memories without lifting a finger!

 Cancellations Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the tour will result in a loss of 20% of the price of tour.
